Range

It grows in Eastern Siberia and the Far East , as well as in Northeast China and Mongolia in deciduous and mixed forests, and is often found in forest edges and places where there were forest fires [2] [3] .

Botanical Description

Deciduous shrub up to 1.5 meters high, provides abundant root shoots. Shoots are thin, yellowish-gray, with thick pubescence.

Leaves are about 7 cm long, 3-5 lobed, light green. The blades are triangular, blunt, medium larger than the lateral ones, with blunt or round teeth on the edges. The upper side of the leaf blade is bare; the lower side is pubescent.

The flowers are bisexual, yellowish, with densely pubescent pedicels , collected 3-12 pieces in short racemose inflorescences. Hypanthium is smooth, swollen at the base, narrowed closer to the pharynx.

Fruits - aromatic edible berries, large (up to 12 mm in diameter), spherical, black. Ripen in July - August.

Application

The berries of low-flowered currant are used by the local population in areas of fresh growth and for harvesting for the winter.

This species is also used in breeding due to winter hardiness, disease resistance, and good transportability of berries [3] [4] .
