Biography
He came from the Anician clan. Julian was the son of the consul of 298, Anicia Faust . His brother was the consul of 325, Sextus Anicius Faust Paulin . Julian's wife was Caesonius Panilia, daughter of the 280-year-old consul, Rufinian Bass . From this marriage was born the 334-year-old consul Amniy Maniy Tsesoniy Nikomakh Anicius Paulin Honorius .
He began his career as a proconsul of Africa in the year 303/322, having received a rescript from the emperor Diocletian , who ordered the suppression of the revolt of the Manichaeans in Africa, accused of having ties to the Sassanid empire . In 326–329, Julian served as prefect of Rome . Anicius Julian was consul in 322 with Petronius Probian .
