Yatsenko, Vladimir Valerievich

Vladimir Valerievich Yatsenko, born February 2, 1962, in Odessa (Ukraine, USSR). Graduate of the Physics and Mathematics School No. 116 (Odessa, 1979). After graduating in 1984 with honors from the Odessa Technological Institute of Refrigeration Industry (OTIHP), he worked as an intern-teacher, and in 1986 he entered graduate school (OTIHP).

He is engaged in literary experiments “as long as he remembers himself,” but a serious attitude to creativity appeared only in the 1999th year.

His first novel, “The Landing at the Present,” was published in Odessa, 2000, (publishing house METTA, ISBN 966-95795-2-X ). In 2005, his second novel, “Prisoners of Winter” ( ISBN 966-95795-3-8 ) was published in Odessa.

Since 2006, Vladimir has been a regular participant in online contests of science fiction stories. Actually, Vladimir devoted this entire period (from 2006 to the present day) to a short history. He wrote fifty stories, each of which was in the final (short list) of the competition. The highest appreciation of his work, Vladimir believes two victories in a row at the prestigious international competition "Russian Ecuador." In 2007, his story “Dinosaur Fighters” took first place ^[1] . The ideological character of this story is also noted by the publishing house Astrel-SPb ^[2]. In 2008, he again became the winner with the story “Racist” ^[3] .

The Collected Works of Vladimir Yatsenko totals six volumes, in 2018 it is planned to issue the 7th volume (the same volume, 17a.l. as the previous books).

The style of Vladimir Yatsenko is characterized by attachment to the so-called "solid" science fiction. Classical canons are the basis, determine the structure of his works. However, at the same time, all the elements in his works are fitted so logically and interconnectedly that the readers have the effect of not only emotional empathy, but also personal physical presence. The observer of his work M. Volova ^[4] called this style logical hyperrealism.

The author himself believes that he writes prose, only in the alluring wrapper of sci-fi assumptions. “The nature of people is unchanged,” Vladimir believes. - In antiquity, in the Middle Ages and in the age of spaceflight, people love and hate, indulge in dreams and lose hope. Fantastic scenery serves only to emphasize the thoughts and actions of the heroes. The times of “science fiction for science fiction” are long gone. Today, science fiction is just a tool for a new perspective, allowing you to see human qualities in an unexpected light. ”

And the author consistently implements this concept.

His characters are ordinary living people, the features of which are quite recognizable in the classic plots of past centuries: the wife follows the terminally ill husband in life quarantine (The Wrong Side of the World); a witness to the tragedy of extreme tourists does not dare to return home, fearing meetings with the parents of the victims ("Camp duty officer"); a businessman who plans to make money on an environmental disaster risks his life by circumstances to prevent this catastrophe (“Tears of a Sipah”).

“This is the embodiment of ethical ideals that the reader would like to see in himself,” writes Izya Shlosberg about the heroes of the writer in the preface to the book “The Way to the Present” ( ISBN 978-1451553383 ).

“The mere declaration of optimism of the hero is not enough,” the author admits. Indeed, the ingenuity with which he “throws up” problems to his heroes is amazing: treasure hunters instead of treasures find weapons of mass destruction (“Pink Snow”, “A Man from a Box”), the astronaut on the Moon remains alone without transport and communication (“Scream” God "); the hired shooter discovers that he took the “job” not from the head of the community, but from the gangster who steals this community (“Dirty shoes”). But the author always finds a way out for his heroes: an unexpected plot twist - and yesterday's loser today becomes a hero.

“My work will not spoil anyone’s mood,” Vladimir promises. - Only positive is waiting for the reader. And the more trouble the hero has, the more worthy the reward awaits him at the end of the journey. ”

Another important component of Yatsenko’s work is a deep conviction that “the story of how NOT to be done is hardly valuable - many roads lead to failure. But the story of tremendous success in extremely unfavorable conditions cannot but interest ”.

Vladimir calls this motive of his work “a guide to the struggle for survivability”: “at first the hero is ill, then worse and worse. But he does not give up, thinks, acts, fights and ... wins. This is very important: victory contrary to circumstances. Think of the two frogs in a krynka with milk: one surrendered, folded her flippers and went to the bottom. The second fought until she whipped the cream, and still got out of the jug. "

Since 2009, Vladimir Yatsenko has been a member of the Shiva-club . Yatsenko is the founder and director of the journal RBJ-Azimut ^{[5] [6]} .

In 2017 - the laureate of the international children's literary prize named after V.P. Krapivina (the story "Sister of the World", under the pseudonym Vlad Rai).
