History
Daylight Dies was formed in 1996 by guitarist Barre Gambling and drummer Jesse Haff in Asheville, North Carolina. In 1999, they recorded their first demo called The Long Forgotten Demo. A year later, vocalist Guthrie Iddings joined the band, and as part of this, Daylight Dies released their second demo, Idle, released on Tribunal Records. In 2001, Egan O'Rourke took over as the band’s bass player, and the band recorded a two-song demo for record labels. Later, a contract was signed with the American metal label Relapse Records.
In 2002, Daylight Dies released their first studio album, dubbed No Reply. In support of the album, the group toured Europe with Katatonia , as well as the USA and Canada with Lacuna Coil . After the tour, Daylight Dies left vocalist Iddings, and his place was taken by Nathan Ellis (Nathan Ellis). Charlie Shackelford also joined the band, becoming the second guitarist.
In November 2005, Daylight Dies signed with Candlelight Records , and in March 2006 they released their second studio album, Dismantling Devotion .
From July 13-14, 2006, Daylight Dies acted as the main support group for the famous Norwegian Emperor in New York. On August 9 of the same year, the first video for the song “Lies That Bind” appears. From October 20 to November 19, the first large-scale North American tour was organized along with Portuguese Moonspell and Swedish Katatonia .
In December 2007, recording of the third studio album Lost to the Living began . After the release of the album in 2008, Daylight Dies supported him on two North American tours: one with Candlemass and the other with Soilwork , Darkane and Swallow the Sun.
Preparation for the fourth album began in July 2010 in North Carolina. October 9, 2012 released the fourth full-length album of the group, dubbed 'A Frail Becoming' (Candlelight Records).
