History
Located in the house 31 on Bolshaya Morskaya Street [3] , in St. Petersburg. The members of the yacht club were grand dukes, courtiers, diplomats, high-ranking officials and guards officers. During a certain period of existence of the yacht club, there was a limit on the total number of its members - not more than 125. According to the memoirs of V. A. Telyakovsky , director of the imperial theaters, the yacht club overshadowed "all resolutely clubs in Russia with their brilliance, pomp and influence." Members of the imperial family and representatives of the diplomatic corps were taken to the yacht club without balloting, but for the rest of the candidates there was the most stringent filtering that was never practiced in other clubs: one black ball destroyed five whites, and among the visitors of the yacht club there were always members and all put black balls. As Telyakovsky noted, in the club it was possible to find out all the latest news of court, official, public and political, to theatrical, inclusive. In 1917 the club ceased to exist. [2]
