History

Sherdog was created by photographer Jeff Sherwood ( nickname “Sherdog”) in 1997 and was later enhanced with the help of Garrett Poe. Today, Sherdog is the largest portal focusing on MMA, presenting news, individual statistics of fighters, analytical reviews, interviews with fighters and referees, a forum for communication (63rd largest in the world) [5] and original radio broadcasts. In addition, Sherdog has partnered with ESPN to provide exclusive MMA content. In particular, the ESPN website uses a database from Sherdog.com. [6]

Despite the wide scope and considerable popularity, there are a number of contradictions regarding the site. For example, Dana White , president of the UFC , periodically refused to give journalist passes to Sherdog reporters. Sherdog reporters are currently prohibited from attending UFC press conferences. [7]

Recently, the site began to conduct online broadcasts of MMA fights taking place in organizations such as the Palace Fighting Championships , Wargods and M-1 Global . [8] [9] [10]
