History
The Italian prize was included in the calendar of the world championship among cars in the year of revival and until 2014 was a regular part of it. Eight of the nine prizes that have passed during this time were taken by the National Circuit in Monza , and the only race outside this track was held in Imola . the stage did not have a permanent place on the calendar, changing the dates several times: the first races opened the season in April, in 2007 the Italian competition moved to autumn, and three years later it returned to the spring segment of the calendar - this time passing in May. In 2012-13, the stage reopened the season, but already in 2014, local promoters could not extend the agreement with the organizers of the World Cup, temporarily stopping the race under such a sign.
The most successful pilot in the competition is the Frenchman Ivan Muller , who won six victories in races that bore the title of the Italian stage of the World Cup. Among the brands, Chevrolet and SEAT are undeniably dominant, whose pilots won seven and six races as part of the stage, respectively. In the last years of its existence, prize races were characterized by the dominance of one brand and one pilot: Chevrolet won all of their seven races in a row, and Mueller won four of his six victories.
In addition to the Italian stage, races of the European and Sanmarin world championship competitions were also held in the country.
