“ Day of missile forces and artillery ” (Ukrainian “ Day of missile forces and artillery ”) is a state holiday of Ukraine. This is a professional holiday for all workers and military personnel of the missile forces and artillery of Ukraine, which is celebrated annually on November 3 [1] . It is not a non-working day if, depending on the year, it does not fall on a weekend.

History
In the USSR, the holiday "Day of Missile Forces and Artillery" was established by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 17, 1964 No. 3027-VI "On Celebrating the Day of Missile Forces and Artillery". In connection with the collapse of the USSR, the Russian Federation became the successor of the USSR and this holiday. In Ukraine, which was not the legal successor of the USSR in relation to this holiday, “Day of missile forces and artillery” has not been officially celebrated since 1991.
As a national holiday, the Day of Missile Forces and Artillery appeared on the Ukrainian official calendar in 1997 , after the second president of Ukraine L. D. Kuchma signed Decree No. 1215/97 on October 31 in the capital of the republic, the hero-city of Kiev . About the Day of Missile Forces and Artillery ”, which prescribed to celebrate it in the Republic of Ukraine every year on November 3 . In the presidential decree of Leonid Kuchma, in particular, it was said that this holiday was introduced: " given the important role of the missile forces and artillery in strengthening the defense of the state " [1] .
In 2007, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine A.S. Gritsenko in his speech dedicated to the "Day of Missile Forces and Artillery" said the following:
“ This holiday is dedicated to one of the greatest operations that was carried out on the territory of Ukraine during the Great Patriotic War. On this day in 1943, the liberation of the capital of our state from Nazi invaders began, during which for the first time during the war the highest density of artillery was created at the site of breaking through the enemy’s defense, a fire roll was carried out on four lines and the fire of the artillery corps was massed along the enemy’s resistance nodes ... maintaining constant high combat readiness, with their patriotism, professionalism and skill, rocket launchers and artillerymen enhance glorious national historical traditions and strengthen the authority of the state ... ".
Traditionally, on the Day of Missile Forces and Artillery, the country's leadership and senior officials of the Moscow Region congratulate their subordinates on this professional holiday, and the most distinguished servicemen are awarded with state awards, extraordinary military ranks , commemorative gifts, government diplomas and thanks from the command.
November 3 is also the founding date of the organization of veterans of missile forces and artillery of Ukraine.
Among the Ukrainian artillerymen and rocket launchers, two dates are celebrated - on November 3 and 19, in honor of all the gunners who fought and died on all fronts of World War II and other wars.
On the same day, another holiday is celebrated in the Armed Forces of Ukraine - Day of Engineering Troops .
