History
The XCR was developed based on the earlier commercial model M96 , which, in turn, was created on the basis of the Stoner 63 system. The XCR system was created specifically to participate in the competition for US SOCOM’s small arms, but dropped out of the competition due to the lack of an idle shooting module, despite the positive feedback from experts, and as a result, the FN SCAR system won the competition.
Description
Automation is standard: removal of powder gases from the barrel and locking the barrel by turning the bolt for three lugs. There is no gas regulator in the combat version, but it is possible to install it; in the civilian version, a 4-position regulator is installed. The body of the receiver - stamped from a metal sheet, consists of two halves, fastened to each other transverse pins. In the lower half there is a USM module, a fuse and a magazine receiver, in the upper half there is a barrel, a bolt and a vapor system. Two-way three-position fuse-translator shooting modes located above the pistol grip. The cocking handle is located on the left. On the fore-end, there are four Picatinny rail, the upper one extends the entire length of the receiver and is designed for mounting various sights (including an open one, which is absent on the weapon itself). For greater convenience, the arrow unused guides can be closed with special plastic plates.
Standard frame butt folds on the right side. It can also be replaced by another, for example, fixed or telescopic (similar to the butt of M4 ). Changing weapons option is made in less than 5 minutes. The receiver of the stores complies with the NATO standard ( en: STANAG magazine ), so it is possible to use stores, for example, from M16 or M4 machines, but not from AK.
