Koninsky - Russian princely family, a branch of the Tarusian princes . The name comes from the Principality of Konin . The genus is included in the Velvet Book [1] .

According to the Odintsevich family tree , drawn up in the first half of the 16th century, the founder of this family, like the family of the Spazhsky princes, was Prince Semyon Yuryevich, one of the sons of the Tarusian prince Yuri Mikhailovich, considered the ancestor of several princely families, including the Mezetskys , Volkonskys , Myshetskys and Obolenskys [2] [3] [4] . However, by the names of the princes Koninsky they are unknown by genealogy; they just mentioned that they “became mean and exhausted from the Tatar wars” [5] .

However, in the Moscow annals of 1477 and 1479, Prince Ivan Koninsky is mentioned, who was captured by the Lithuanians at the Sukhodrov River in 1445 [6] [6] . According to A. V. Shekov, Ivan could serve Prince Ivan Andreyevich Mozhaysky [4] .

In the genealogy of the princes Volkonsky, filed in 1686, Konstantin , Ivan and Fedor , the sons of Prince Fedor Ivanovich Tarussky , who died in the Battle of Kulikovo in 1380, are called Koninsky. It is reported about them that they “came to live on Volkon and since that time began to be called Volkonskys” [4] [7] .
