World Architecture Day

In September 1946, in the capital of Great Britain , London , an international meeting of architects was held, including delegates from the Soviet Union . At this meeting, it was almost unanimously decided to create a new organization , which was called the International Union of Architects (ISA). Currently, ISA has about a hundred national sections, whose members are more than a million architects from around the world ^[2] .

Almost four decades later, in 1985, at a meeting of the International Union of Architects, it was decided to celebrate World Architecture Day on the first Monday of July. However, in 1996 , in the Spanish city ​​of Barcelona , at its twentieth General Assembly, ISA decided to postpone World Architecture Day on the first Monday of October, the day on which World Housing Day is celebrated under the auspices of the United Nations ( World Habitat Day ).

“World Architecture Day” already has its own traditions : on this day architects of the entire planet gather at conferences , symposia and forums where they share their knowledge and experience , solve problems associated with the construction and restoration of buildings and structures , arrange thematic discussions and disputes . Often, various exhibitions and excursions are organized on this day.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated September 7, 2010 No. 1099 “On Measures to Improve the State Reward System of the Russian Federation”, on the eve of the celebration once a year, the President of the Russian Federation issues a decree on conferring the honorary title “People’s Architect of the Russian Federation”.

Moscow

Since 2008, the Days of Architecture festival has been held in Moscow. The festival is held twice a year - in October (timed to coincide with World Architecture Day) and in April. The main events of the Architecture Days are walking, bus and bicycle excursions on modern architecture and buildings of the Soviet era, visiting new objects with architects and customers, visits to architectural workshops, art events, lectures and discussions, events aimed at identifying the interaction of old and new architecture other. The organizer of the festival is the P-Arch agency, curated by Alexander Zmeul and Natalia Alekseeva.

Nizhny Novgorod

International Architecture Day has been celebrated in Nizhny Novgorod since 2006. It was Nizhny Novgorod who became the first in the country to organize a festival in honor of him. The initiator and curator of the festival is Marina Ignatushko. The Days program includes exhibitions, lectures, promotions, and excursions. The permanent partners of the festival are the Nizhny Novgorod organization of the Union of Architects of Russia, the U-kon company, the Volga branch of the NCCA, the O'gorod architecture bureau, the Sergey Tumanin Gallery, the group of artists A3, the free space "Dial".

Yekaterinburg

Celebration in Yekaterinburg since 2011 has been conducted by TATLIN Publishing House. It takes place in the form of a picnic for architects on the first Monday of July. An important part of the celebration is an exhibition related to views on architecture. Also, architects play in the towns , enjoy barbecue and have fun in the fresh air.

Each year, the holiday has a certain theme related to architecture:

• 2007 - “ Cities - magnets of hope ”
• 2008 , October 6 - was dedicated to the memory of Gancarlo Ius , a famous architect, vice president of ISA, who died on July 4, 2005 ^[3] . The motto was the line “ Child be the Architect of a better future ” ( Child, Become an Architect for a Better Future or “ Talking a Child with an Architect ”) from a song to which Giancarlo wrote poetry
• 2009 - “The energy of the architect - to fight the global crisis ” ^[4]
• 2011 , October 3 - “Architecture and Human Rights ” ^[5]
• 2012 - "Architects - city reformers" ^[6] ( Engl. Architects are city changers ) ^[7]

• " Builder 's Day " - is celebrated in Russia (since the USSR ) on the second Sunday of August.
• World Art Nouveau Day - celebrated annually on June 10 from 2013 .
