Zos Kia (born Zos Kia Cultus ) - created by the English artist and occultist Austin Osman Speyr magic cult.
The cult of Zos Kia focuses on the awareness of his personal universe and the influence of dedicated magicians on it. At the same time, it has a very individual and personal character. Zos , according to Spare, is the sphere of the body , regarded as something integral. Kia is considered as I (and, accordingly, God ), which projects itself into the surrounding world. In this case, Kia (I) , from the point of view of Spare, is an eye, an eternal observer . In his Book of Pleasures , Spare gives a guiding definition for Kia : Absolute freedom, whose “being free” is strong enough to become a surrounding Reality, and yet remaining free at any moment ... The less is said about Kia, the less will be hidden . According to Speir, Zos Kia is the only creed that operates without restriction and at the same time is not a religion.
The technique of comprehending Zos Kia strives to ensure that the Kia (Self) sphere expands more and more, which should cause the individual to experience a state of cosmic ecstasy , as a result of which the restraining boundaries between the individual and the Universe collapse. The magical technique developed for this by Slade contains elements of sigillism , sexual magic , necromancy and animism , as well as original magical techniques developed by this occultist.
The foundations of the doctrine of Zos Kia O. O. Spare developed between 1920 and 1927 and set out in a number of his books. In 1946, he met with the English occultist Kenneth Grant , who convinced Spare to establish the magical cult of Zos Kia and write the essay The Magic Book of Zos .
Although the cult of Zos Kia never had a large number of followers, it nevertheless had a great influence on the development of Western occultism in general and Chaos Magic in particular.
