DistributionAustralia Introduced to New Zealand , where it was first recorded in 1959 near Penrose, Auckland (Taylor, 1959). [one]
DescriptionSmall ants about 2-3 mm in size. Antennae 12-segmented. Mandibles with 4–5 large and 4–5 small denticles. Body color from light to dark brown.
SystematicsThe only species of the genus Doleromyrma Forel , 1907 . There are three subspecies:
- Doleromyrma darwiniana darwiniana (Forel, 1907)
- Doleromyrma darwiniana fida (Forel, 1907)
- Doleromyrma darwiniana leae (Forel, 1913)
