The final of the Belarus Football Cup 2009/2010 is the final of the 19th draw of this football tournament. In the final, Borisov BATE and Zhodino Torpedo met. The match took place on May 23, 2010 at the Minsk stadium Dynamo in the presence of more than 10 thousand spectators. During the match in Minsk, it was partly cloudy, at times it rained. For the second time in its history, FC BATE won the Cup.

Before the match

“ Torpedo ” for the first time in its history reached the Cup final, having won a ticket to the UEFA Europa League ^[3] . Prior to this, the best result for Zhodzina was the release in the quarter finals of the 2006-2007 draw. Borisovites reached the final for the fifth time, but won only once, in the 2005-2006 draw.

Before this, the teams had never met in the games of the Belarus Cup.

“Torpedo” confidently reached the final, beating at the spring stage of the tournament “ Naftan ” from Novopolotsk , as well as the Gomel “ DSK ”. However, in the first round of the Country Championship, the team could not please their fans with results: only 9 points in 11 matches and the penultimate place in the standings. In the last game before the final, Zhodzina lost to Dynamo Minsk in all respects: 1: 5 ^[4] .

BATE, as usual for recent years, has headed the league standings with zeros in two of its columns: defeats and goals.

Match Report

The fight in the final match did not work: BATE won easily and naturally. Renan Bressan, the Brazilian midfielder, scored the first goal into the Zhodino goal with a direct kick from the free kick. Then, Vitaly Rodionov, taking advantage of the transfer of BATE captain Dmitry Likhtarovich, went face to face with Torpedo goalkeeper Vladimir Bushma and effectively threw him. The intrigue of the match almost died out after the removal of the attacking team from Zhodzina Pavel Begansky in the end of the first half.

In the second half, BATE brought the score to indecently large: doubles were drawn up by Bressan and Rodionov, another odd goal from the penalty spot was scored by Artem Kontseva.
