Content
Story
Sister Herman recently survived the death of the groom, took the vow of a nun, and returns from Libya to Italy. She becomes the head of the provincial hospital Piazza. There are many problems in the hospital, staff strikes and overcrowded wards. Herman completely takes over the management of the institution, participates in operations, negotiates with the staff and brings order. One of the patients is an atheist and communist Annibale Pezzi, who has actually lived in a hospital for many years. Difficult relations gradually develop between Hermann and Annibale. He tries to care for his sister and at the same time argues with her on political and religious topics. Hermann rejects attempts, hinting at the fact that Annibale needs to stop being afraid of life and leave the walls of the hospital. Annibale claims that, under the influence of Hermann, he began to independently study medicine and will soon become a doctor.
The trade unions of the city hold a protest action and Annibale takes part in it. Protesters block the highway. Trying to escape the criminals, passing on the highway and knocked Annibale. He is taken to the hospital and he dies in the arms of Herman.
