The flathead bluehead , or flathead bluehead ( lat. Eryngium planum ), is a perennial plant , a species of the genus Sinegolovin ( Eryngium ) of the Umbelliferae family .

It grows in the European part of Russia , in the North Caucasus , south of Western Siberia in dry meadows, clearings, forest edges, in the sands, along river banks, in the steppes.
Perennial plant with a direct rod root .
Stems up to 1 meter high, branched in the upper part. All parts of the plant, especially the upper one, have a blue or purple hue.
The leaves are stiff, leathery, with prickly teeth along the edges. The basal leaves are oval or ovoid, up to 15 cm long, on long petioles. In the middle part of the stalk - obscure-lobed, on short petioles. In the upper part of the stem, leaves are sessile, palmate with 3-5 lobes.
Flowers with blue or blue petals are collected in dense ovoid heads up to 2 cm long. Wrapping leaves, bracts and sepals are lanceolate, with spinous teeth. The leaves of the wrapper are equal in length to the flower heads or even longer. The blue-headed flat-bloomed in June-July blooms.
Fruits are ovoid, scaly, up to 3 mm long.
Flathead pseudolithic is used as a medicinal plant in folk medicine [2] .
