History
The history of the company dates back to February 15, 1864 , when its founder Gerard Adrian Heineken bought the De Hooiberg brewery in Amsterdam. Until 1989, the company was headed first by a son (from 1917 to 1940), and then by the grandson of Gerard Heineken. In 1968, Heineken took over its main competitor, Amstel [6] .
In June 2007, the company acquired the Czech Krušovice Brewery from the German Radeberger Gruppe, the amount of the transaction was not disclosed [7] . The purchase of , a British brewing company, in 2008 brought Heineken to third place in the world in beer production after Anheuser-Busch InBev and SABMiller , and after the merger of the two companies in 2016, Heineken became second [8]
In January 2010, the company acquired the largest brewing company in Mexico, Femsa, the transaction was carried out by exchange of shares, as a result, in exchange for 100% of the shares of Femsa, the shareholders of the Mexican company received a 20% stake in Heineken. As of 2006, the company owned 130 breweries in more than 65 countries. In addition to the world-famous brands Heineken and Amstel, the company produces more than 300 international and local brands of beer, including Cruzcampo, Tiger, Żywiec, Birra Moretti, Murphy's , Star, etc.
The total number of personnel is 85.6 thousand people. With an annual beer output of 233.8 million hectoliters, the company is the second largest brewing company in the world after Anheuser-Busch InBev and before Carlsberg . Heineken in the Czech Republic
At the end of 2007, Heineken ranked 3rd (14%) in beer production in the Czech Republic under the brands Starobrno, Hostan, Krušovice , Zlatopramen , Březňák, Louny, Dačický, Lorec, Jarošov and Pivrnec. The total production reached 3 million hectoliters per year. More than a third of production was sent for export.

In November 2006, the production of Bud beer was launched under the license of the American Anheuser-Busch . At the Kaliningrad plant, by the order of the company Kirin , the brand of the same name was produced. The contract expired at the end of 2008.
Heineken is the exclusive distributor of premium brands Guinness Draught and Kilkenny, which are sold in pubs throughout Russia.
September 25, 2018. HEINEKEN and Molson Coors announce the signing of a long-term partnership agreement according to which HEINEKEN receives the exclusive right to manufacture, distribute and sell beer under the Miller Genuine Draft and Staropramen brands in Russia. Under the terms of the agreement, shipments to wholesale customers will begin on December 15, 2018, and the first lots will arrive on the modern trade channel on January 1, 2019.
In 2006, the Russian breweries produced 13.7 million hectoliters of beer. According to the results of 2006, the company's market share in Russia amounted to 16.2%, according to the results of 2007 - 12.8% by value [11] .

Heineken in Belarus
Heineken NV entered the Belarusian market in December 2007 by purchasing the Syabar brewery in Bobruisk . Then the Dutch company became the owner of Rechitsapivo . In 2013, against the backdrop of a falling market and criticism of the Belarusian authorities for unprofitable work and large volumes of imports, the company concentrated the production of beer and kvass in Bobruisk, and malt house, a warehouse and a distribution center remained in Rechitsa . The number of personnel decreased from 160 to 90 people.
In 2017, Heineken NV sold all of its assets in Belarus to the Oasis group (before renaming - Detroit Investments). The companies agreed to merge their units in Belarus into one company, which will be owned and operated by Oasis, while Heineken will provide licenses for the production and sale of beer under its brands, as well as continue to provide quality control and marketing support [14] .
Heineken in Ukraine
since 2015, the company Persha Privat Brovarnya has been brewing Heineken beer under license at its factory in Radomyshl, while not being the property of this concern. For example, in the USA, the Heineken is still being transported from Holland.
Now the company “Persha Private Brewery" owns two breweries - in Lviv (capacity 1.4 million hl) and in Radomyshl (1.1 million hl).
Criticism
On April 18, 2007, the European Commission fined Heineken € 219.3 million, as well as two other Dutch brewing companies (Grolsch € 31.65 million and Bavaria Brewery € 22.85 million) for a cartel agreement for pricing between 1996 and 1999 year; together, these companies control 80% of the beer market in the Netherlands. The fourth cartel company, InBev, escaped a fine by collaborating with the investigation [15] .
