Vladimir Nikolaevich Karpov ( October 8, 1946 , Trubchevsk , Bryansk Region - March 2007 , Moscow ) is a leader of the foreign intelligence agencies of the USSR and Russia, the author of books on the history of Soviet intelligence, Colonel of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia .

Biography
Vladimir Nikolaevich Karpov was born on October 8, 1946 in the village of Trubchevsk, Bryansk Region . He received a higher military ( Military Institute of Foreign Languages (VIIA) , 1971) and a special intelligence ( Academy of Foreign Intelligence , 1974) education. He spoke French, Arabic and Bulgarian. He worked for eleven years abroad in residencies of foreign intelligence (Guinea, France, Morocco, Madagascar). Since 1992 - employee of the press bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service. Colonel Professor of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RANS) .
He is the author and compiler of the Secret Kremlin Informers, Foreign Intelligence, and numerous publications on the history of Soviet intelligence in the press. Writer, member of the Writers' Union of Russia . The total circulation of books exceeds 50 thousand copies.
He died in 2007, was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow [1] .
