The Great Bell Temple was built in 1733 under Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). [1] The temple is so named for the bell "Yunle" located in the temple, cast during the reign of Yunle (1403-1424) of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). [1] According to the ANC , the sound of the bell reaches 120 decibels and is heard 50 km from the temple. [2] Many music experts, including specialists from the Acoustics Institute, found the sound rich, deep, and melodic. Its frequency ranges from 22 to 800 hertz . [2]
