Seta [ˈseta] ; until 1927 the name was written Cette ) - a commune in southern France , a port on the coast of the Gulf of Lyon , in the Herault department ( Languedoc-Roussillon region ). It is the center and the only commune of the canton of Seth . District of the commune - Montpellier [1] . The INSEE code of the commune is 34301. The commune is the 3rd in the department and the 2nd in the district [2] .

Content
Geography
The city is built on and around Saint-Clair Hill. The port on the Mediterranean coast includes the south-eastern part of Lake Tau and an extensive beach line. The city has many canals connecting the sea to the lake. The settlement is located at an altitude of 0 to 176 meters above sea level. The city is bordered by the communes of Balaruc-les-Bains , Frontignan and is located 26.7 km from Montpellier , 615 km from Paris [3] .

In the city in 2011, 43,408 people lived, of which 14.0% were younger than 14 years old, 16.1% - from 15 to 29 years old, 16.1% - from 30 to 44, 20.0% - from 45 to 59 years, 33.8% are over 60. There are 11,765 families in the commune (19.6% of single-parent families) [4] .

Elections
Since 2014, the mayor of the commune, Francois Comanet (the SND party), has a mandate for the period 2014–2020. In the first round of the March 3, 2014 city elections, 8 candidates stood. The turnout was 71.37%. In the second round on March 30, there were 3 candidates: Francois Comane (SNM), Francois Liberty (other left) and Marie-Christine Aubert ( NF ). With the support of 47.00% (from the voters), Francois Comane was elected [3] .
During the 1st round of the 2012 presidential election in France , 27.60% of the population voted for Nicolas Sarkozy , 23.06% voted for Francois Hollande, 24.04% voted for Marine Le Pen . In the second round, 51.16% voted for Nicolas Sarkozy [3] .
