Description
βThe flag of the urban settlement Obolensk is a rectangular panel with a ratio of width to length 2: 3, consisting of two horizontal stripes - red in 2/3 of the width of the panel and blue in 1/3 of the width of the panel, bearing in the middle a figure from the coat of arms of Obolensk: above the white disk dotted with conventional ermine ponytails, two crowned yellow syrin birds holding a yellow arrow in their mouth and a yellow ball in their distant paws. β
Justification of Symbols
The flag of Obolensk was created on the basis of its coat of arms .

These birds are a protective and protective amulet of the family of the princes Obolensky , as well as a symbol of frugality. In addition, in Ancient Russia, they, thanks to their sweet, "divine" singing, symbolized the "word of God."
The symbolism of the ermine fur disk is multifaceted. On the one hand, it is a symbol of princely dignity (a mantle from the coat of arms of the princes Obolensky), and on the other hand, it symbolizes a vessel for growing microcultures known in microbiology called the Petri dish , which symbolizes the city-forming enterprise of the village of the State Research Center for Applied Microbiology .
Yellow color (gold) is a symbol of the highest value, greatness, magnanimity, wealth, sunlight.
The blue color symbolizes exalted aspirations, honor, devotion, truth, virtue.
Red color symbolizes beauty, celebration, activity, courage.
Ermine fur is a symbol of nobility.
