Ahmad Ibn Kuyah

Ahmad ibn Kuyah ( Ahmad son of Kuyi , other Kuwaii reading option ) is the vizier of the Khazar Kaganate , the head of the al-Larisiya guard in the 40s of the 10th century .

According to al-Masudi , who left the most detailed description of the Muslim community of Khazaria (c. 943 ), the imperial guard, consisting of Muslims , had its own chief, whom she elected from among her own. He served as a vizier and had the right of supreme judicial jurisdiction over all Muslims of the capital. Probably, Ibn Fadlan mentions the same person two decades earlier, in whom he was called the youth of the king and is indicated by the word " Khaz ."

O. Pritsak put forward a hypothesis about the connection between the name of Kuyya and the Arabic form of the name of Kiev - Kuyab , seeing in this the possible participation of the Khazars in the foundation of the city. In historiography, this version of the distribution is not received, because it is not confirmed by any facts and is internally contradictory.
