  • Location: southeastern Belsky district
    • Borders:
      • in the north - with the Prigorodniy joint venture
      • in the east - with Verkhovsky joint venture
      • in the south - with the Smolensk region , Sychevsky , Novoduginsky and Kholm-Zhirkovsky districts
      • in the west - with the Kavelshchinsky joint venture

The main rivers are the Obsha , Uzha.

History

In the 12-14 centuries, the territory of the settlement was part of the Smolensk Grand Duchy . Since 1355, it has been part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania , after the final accession to the Russian state in 1654, in the Smolensk Voivodeship.
Since the XVIII century, the territory of the settlement was:

  • in 1708-1719 to the Smolensk province
  • in 1719-1726 to the Smolensk province of Riga province
  • in 1726-1776 to the Smolensk province
  • in 1776-1796 to Smolensk governorate
  • in 1796-1929 to the Smolensk province , Belsky district

  • in 1957-1963 to the Kalinin region , Belsky district

Famous People

  In the now defunct village of Milovidovo, the Hero of the Soviet Union Kondraty Vasilyevich Bilyutin was born.
  Hero of the Soviet Union Vasily Grigorievich Kuznetsov was born in the village of Petrovo.
