Berg, Yuri Alexandrovich

Yuri Aleksandrovich Berg (born August 3, 1953 , Nyrob , Cherdynsky District , Perm Region , RSFSR , USSR ) is a Russian statesman. Governor of the Orenburg region from June 15, 2010 to March 21, 2019 (interim governor of the Orenburg region from May 17 to September 26, 2014).

Biography

Born on August 3, 1953 in the village of Nyrob, Nyrobsky District, Perm Region, in the family of employees of Alexander and Zinaida Berg (Babakova). Father from the Volga Germans, mother - Russian. In 1961, the family moved to the city of Orsk, Orenburg region.

Education

1969 - graduated from the 9th grade of school number 35 in Orsk.

1973 - Astrakhan Naval College majoring in maritime navigation. The choice of a place of study was influenced by the book “Navigator of the Voyage”, written by the captain of the sailing ship “Comrade” Dmitry Lukhmanov [1] .

1982 - Orenburg State Pedagogical University .

2003 - Orenburg State University with a degree in Economics and Enterprise Management with the qualification of economist-manager.

Labor

1974 - 1976 - fitter of the construction department No. 1 of the Orenburgspetsstroy trust.

1976 - 1985 - teacher of physical education and the basics of military training at school number 11 in Orsk.

1985 - 1992 - Director of secondary school No. 15 of Orsk.

1997 - Director of CJSC ASK Orsk-ASKO.

1998 - 1999 - General Director of Orsk-Service LTD LLP.

1999 - 2005 - General Director of OJSC Novotroitsky Cement Plant.

Since July 2005, he worked as Deputy General Director for Regional Development at OrskInterSvyaz OJSC.

1992-1996 - Deputy Head of the Orsk Administration for Social Affairs.

In 1995, he was included in the reserve of federal executive bodies of the Russian Federation .

From the beginning of 1997 to 1998, he was Deputy Director of the Orenburg Tax Police Assistance Fund.

November 2, 2005 took office as head of Orsk.

Member of the Presidential Council for Cossacks (since 2012).

Member of the Presidium of the Regional Political Council of the United Russia Party of the Orenburg Region.

Governor of the Orenburg Region

On May 15, 2010, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev submitted the candidacy of Yuri Berg to the Legislative Assembly of the Orenburg Region for empowerment of the region’s governor.

On May 22, 2010, deputies of the Legislative Assembly approved Yuri Berg as head of the Orenburg region.

June 15, 2010 took office as governor of the Orenburg region [2] .

On May 17, 2014, President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin accepted the early resignation of Yu. A. Berg on a personal statement so that he could take part in the elections [3] .

On September 14, 2014, he was elected for a second term as governor of the Orenburg Region with a voting result of 80.28% [4] .

September 26, 2014 began to act as governor of the Orenburg region [5] .

At the end of 2018, Yuri Berg was in the top ten leaders of the heads of regions in terms of rating drop. RBC said that Berg's rating for the year fell by 28% [6] . Governor’s spokesman Sergei Shermetsinsky regularly denied rumors of Yuri Berg’s resignation [7] , but on March 21, Yuri Berg resigned [8] . Among the problems of the Orenburg region included the problem of corruption - the arrest of the mayor of Orenburg, Yevgeny Arapov, and the problem of the work of industrial enterprises - a temporary downtime of the Ormeto-YuUMZ plant for 3,000 people and non-payment of salaries.

Marital Status

Married, has two sons, three grandchildren.

He studied at the same school with his wife. Berg Lyubov Fyodorovna, a primary school teacher by education, from 1976 to 2006 she worked at school number 11 in Orsk [1] . He heads the board of trustees of the Future of Orenburg charitable foundation, the Orenburg Theological Seminary. He is the deputy chairman of the regional public organization “Council of Women” [11] . Owns LLC Bazis-N, registered in the Orenburg region [12] .

The son, Berg Sergey Yuryevich, works as the first deputy general director of the Horizon Orenburg construction corporation and the general director of the silicate plant Novotroitsky CJSC. Owns a stake in the Uralsky house-building plant, which he headed until 2010, and Europartners LLC, which has shares in Tekhstroykontrakt LLC and Nosta Bank. [12] .

Son, Berg Alexander Yuryevich, since 2008 - owner and CEO of LLC Novotroitsky Roofing Materials Plant TechIzol. Married, has two daughters (Jennifer and Evelyn) [12] .

Hobbies

According to his own statement, “there is no time for a hobby” [13] . Prefers to spend free time with her granddaughters.

He loves and knows how to cook.
