About the album
In 1997, Snoop left Death Row Records and was immediately offered several contracts. Considering that the contract with the label of the famous rapper and producer Master P No Limit Records, the most profitable Snoop immediately starts working on his third album, which he first wanted to call Da Game but later renamed it Da Game Is To Be Sold, Not To Be Told.
The sound of this album is very heavy, even harder than his debut album Doggystyle . The album tells the story of Snoop Dogg's life as a gangster, about his wife, about his unhappy childhood and about problems with Death Row Records . On this album, Snoop first shows himself in the hardcore rap genre.
This is the first album where Snoop Dogg himself produced most of the tracks. However, the album is also produced by Master P , Beats By The Pound, DJ Pooh and Soopafly. This album critics call the worst in the work of the rapper. Browsers criticized Snoop Dogg's new album, noting that he had lost his style. The album debuted in first place on the Billboard 200 and sold around the world in the amount of 8 million copies.
