Bill Stear (full name William Jeffrey Stear , December 3, 1969) is a British guitarist and co - founder of the death metal band Carcass . He is considered one of the pioneers who made a significant contribution to the development of such genres as grindcore and death metal due to his participation in Napalm Death and Carcass - two of the most significant groups in these genres.

Bill Steer was the guitarist of the Napalm Death band from 1987 to 1989 and Carcass from 1985 to 1995 (for some time he was the guitarist of both bands at the same time).
In 1985, together with Ken Owen, he creates the Carcass group. After the breakup of Carcass, Bill Steer founded the Firebird band, which played 1970s style rock music. Currently lives in London , UK .
