In the early 2000s, a misfortune happened in the zoo. The pollution of the pond killed many waterfowl. The director of the zoo, Adolf Arkadyevich Bocharov, considered the water intake on Str. Tula Workers' Regiment, because the remnants of gasoline and oil when washing machines were washed off in a stream connecting to the pond. However, near the zoo there is a sewer pipe in which there is a malfunction.
In the second half of the 2000s, the territory of the zoo, all the buildings, as well as most of the animals, were transferred to the leadership of the Central Park, and the zoo of the Tula Engineering Plant ceased to exist.
On June 5, 2009, after the reconstruction, an updated zoo corner was opened; its collection was replenished with new unusual types of parrots, ostriches, goats, foxes, various breeds of ducks, hens, pigeons and other animals and birds. 285 animals live in the zoo: 37 species of birds and 8 species of animals.
After the Adolf Arkadyevich Bocharov, the keeper of the zoo became the livestock specialist Arseny Pomaskin. He came to Adolf Arkadevich a 10-year-old schoolboy and became his student. Adolf Arkadyevich handed over the reins to Arseny, and he became a real keeper of the zoo.
The Tula zoo corner is open daily, from 10 hours to 20 hours, seven days a week. Admission is 100 rubles for adults, preferential - 70 rubles, for children under 7 free. Guided tours.
