Biography
Murad Megni was born in the family of the father of Ammi Ali, a native of Algeria and the mother of Anna, a Portuguese citizen. Once a year, Megni traveled with his parents to Algeria, where he spent his holidays [1] .
Murad from a young age loved fiddling with the ball, playing with his elder brother Said, who also tried to become a football player. Megney began his career at Tursi Football School, and then at Nantes Academy. At the age of 13, he came to Clerfontein National Football School, where, under the guidance of a Brazilian coach, he improved his individual ball handling technique. Megney remained at school for three years, after which he moved to the youth team of the Cannes club.
Megney came at an unfortunate moment in the history of Cannes: due to financial problems, the club was forced to go to the amateur French league. At the same time, even there Murad played only for the second team. In the summer of 2000, Megney, as a free agent, moved to the Italian club Bologna . In 2001, he won the Italian Championship in his age group. The victory did not cause joy: the club’s general director Oreste Cinquini was disappointed that the main part of the club was made up of foreign players. After that, all these players were kicked out of the team, but Megney, who was the leader, decided to leave.
Club career
On January 12, 2003, Megney made his debut in the main squad of Bologna in the match of the Italian championship with Milan , in which his club lost 0: 2. After that, Megney spent 3 seasons in the club, having played in 37 matches and scoring 5 goals. In the 2005/06 season, Megney was leased by the French Sochaux , for which he spent 16 games. The 2006/07 season, “Bologna” held in series B. In the same season, the midfielder became the player of the club’s foundation, having spent 35 games.
“Numerous injuries and comparisons with Zinedine Zidane certainly did not benefit me. Despite the fact that I was flattered by the comparison with such an outstanding football player, I tried to drive these thoughts away from me - too much of this obliges. I always got rather painful injuries. In this regard, I frankly had no luck. Even my best season in Bologna was not without sores - I flew out twice with a back injury and once I had problems with my hip. It was necessary to control myself, because otherwise I would just go crazy " [2]
On June 30, 2007, Menny moved to the Roman Lazio , signing a contract for 5 years [3] . For 50% of the rights to the football player, Bianco Celestia paid 2.5 million euros , and Riccardo Bonetto went to Bologna on loan. The Algerian did not succeed in starting a new club: he did not get into the squad and did not enjoy the confidence of the Romans head coach, Delio Rossi . In the first season, he spent only 19 matches, of which only 7 times entered the field in the starting lineup. Megney also made his debut in the Champions League in a match with Werder Bremen , making an assist in Tommaso Rokki , where he spent 4 games. On June 25, 2008, Lazio and Bologna renewed their joint ownership of the player’s contract, leaving him to stay for another season in Rome. On July 18, as part of the transfer of Gabi Mudingaya , Bologna gave up the remainder of the rights to Megni Lazio.
The 2008/09 season started well for Megni: he scored the first goal for the club, hitting the Benevento goal in the Italian Cup . In the championship, he spent 22 games as part of the club. In 2009, Megney scored a goal in the Europa League , hitting the gates of the club in Sofia CSKA . In the 2009/10 season, Megney spent only 7 games, which was caused by a knee injury [2] .
On June 10, 2011, the player terminated the contract with Lazio by mutual agreement [4] . On June 11, 2011, Megni signed a contract with the Qatari club Umm-Salal [5] .
International Career
Megney played for the youth teams of France of various ages. In 2001, he won the World Champion in the under-17 age group. In the same year he won silver medals at the European Championships in the same age category.
In 2009, Meghni, after meeting with Algeria's national team head coach, Rabah Saadan , decided to play for this team [2] . On August 12, he made his debut in the national team in a friendly match with Uruguay , in which his team won 1-0 [6] .
“As soon as he appeared in our team, we immediately realized that this guy has a great understanding of football. That is why he quickly managed to get comfortable in the team. His incredible technique and tactical knowledge open up great opportunities for us. Unfortunately, he still has not been able to prove himself fully due to all these injuries that haunt him. I really hope that by the beginning of the World Cup he will no longer have any health problems ” [2] . Rabah Saadan
Due to a knee injury, Megni missed the 2010 World Cup ; he said: “I am very upset. I tried to heal the injury in recent months, but I could not make progress. It would be risky to play with such an injury. Doctors know their job and I have to make their decision ” [7] .
