The representative of the oldest branch of the Trubetskoys , the son of Prince Nikolai Nikolayevich and Elizabeth Alexandrovna Lopukhina, whose sister Varvara was Lermontov's lover. My father was a cousin of S.P. Trubetskoy , one of the most famous Decembrists .
After graduating from high school, he entered as a non-commissioned officer in the Poltava Infantry Regiment . In 1864 he was seconded to the Department of the Ministry of War [1] . He held the post of Minsk governor longer than any of his predecessors. Before the revolution, his name was on the main street of the city of Borisov .
In 1887, after a fire that occurred in the former city theater of Minsk , he spoke at a meeting of the city council with the initiative to design a new theater building [2] ; now in this building is the National Academic Theater named after Yanka Kupala .

Wife (from 10.23.1861) Elizaveta Aleksandrova Bezak (15.9.1838-11.2.1902), daughter of the Kiev Governor General A.P. Bezak . Children:
- Alexander (1863-1920) - guard captain.
- Nikolai (02/20/1864 - 06/02/1935) - founder of the Red Cross Sisters of Mercy [3] , married to S. L. Golitsyna (1871-1913), illegitimate daughter of Prince Lev Golitsyn , they have 6 children.
- Emmanuel (1864-1902) - graduated from the Marine Corps.
- Love (1866-1928) - husband Alexei Borisovich Neidgardt (1863-1918).
- Olga (1868-1885).
- Natalia (b. 1870) - husband Alexander Nikolaevich Velyaminov .
