Agadyr ( kaz. Aқadyr ) is a settlement in the Shet district of the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan . The administrative center of the Agadyr village administration. The KATO code is 356431100 [1] . It is the largest populated area in the Shet district. Located 130 km south of Karaganda . The Almaty- Astana railway passes through the village; there is a railway depot.

It originated in 1935 in connection with the construction of the Karaganda-Balkhash railway [2] . From 1973 to 1997, Agadyr was the center of the Agadyr district .
Population
In 1999, the population of the village was 10,564 people (5,090 men and 5,474 women) [3] . According to the 2009 census , there were 9,612 people in the village (4,681 men and 4,931 women) [3] .
