Smith and Jones

Martha Jones is a medical student . She works in a hospital and one morning she meets strange people in motorcycle helmets. In the hospital lies an elderly woman with a lack of salt in the body and a man called John Smith.

Suddenly it begins to rain, rising up, and the hospital building is on the moon . The building is in outer space in a force field that holds oxygen, but it will soon end. Spaceships land on the moon. These are the Judoons - an intergalactic police looking for a non-man who committed a murder. The doctor is innocent, but he is the Lord of the time, and he is in danger, because the Judoons will kill anyone who turns out to be a "non-human being."

The doctor and Martha decide to find the culprit themselves. A patient with a lack of salt turns out to be a plasma eater, sucks out the human blood of the head physician, and the judoons register it as a person. The police then scan the Doctor, but he manages to escape. To break away, he kisses Martha, leaving an inhuman mark and distracting the Judoons. The doctor runs to the laboratory where the plasmoid is located. She is preparing a magnetic apparatus that will destroy all people on Earth. The doctor tricks the plasma eater to drink his blood, and the trick is revealed. Judahs are moving the building back to Earth.

The doctor offers Martha one trip to the TARDIS , and she agrees.

• Martha asks the Doctor if he has a brother, and he replies: "No more." The Doctor’s brother was already mentioned earlier in the spinoff of Justin Richards, which was edited by Simon Winston, the screenplay editor for this episode. His brother's name, or at least the name he used, was Irving Braxiatel.
• Although the doctor recognizes the Dzhudunov , this is their first appearance in the Universe of the Doctor.
• The pseudonym John Smith was given to Dr. Jamie McCrimmon and was used by the Doctor several times, primarily in its third incarnation . Before this episode, the last use of the pseudonym was in the series “Meeting at School”, after - in the series “ Human Nature ” and “ Family of Blood ”.

Oliver Morgenstern is the only survivor.
• In the spin-off of “ The Adventures of Sarah Jane ”, in the second part of the series “Death of the Doctor”, the Eleventh Doctor calls his companions Sarah Jane and Joe Jones Smith and Jones, which is a reference to the series.
