Ponomarev, Valery Mikhailovich

Valery Ponomarev ( born Valery Ponomarev ; born January 20, 1943 ) - a jazz trumpeter , lived, studied and worked in Moscow, in 1973 he emigrated to the United States , where he gained recognition.

He played in the famous ensemble Jazz Messengers , with which 11 albums were recorded [2] .

The first solo album - "Means of Identification" - was released in 1987 ; as of 2010, Valery Ponomarev has 8 solo albums, released mainly by the Reservoir Music label.

He is currently touring the world with his ensemble “Universal Language”, since 1990 he has been on tour in Moscow [3] .

In 2003 [4] he published the autobiography “On the Back of the Sound” (in the USA, the book was published in 2009 under the title On the Flip Side of Sound ).
