The meteorite fell at 8 a.m. local time on October 16, 1919. There was a bright ball of fire, the flight path of the car - from north to south. The meteorite scattered when it fell into more than 100 fragments, scattered over an area several kilometers across, centered near the village of Bur-Geluai, the region of Bur-Aqaba, Somalia . At least 122 individual specimens found. This allows us to attribute the fall of this meteorite to rare events, since only in 1% of cases of meteorite incidence hundreds of fragments are detected. Fragments are stored in various museums and collections in the world, but the most complete collection ( 58 fragments with a total mass of 78,706 g ) is in the collection of the Mineralogical Museum of the University of Rome .

From the content in the meteorite of cosmogenic isotopes arising from exposure to cosmic rays in an extra-atmospheric stream, it was found that the density product by the radius of the meteorite body before entering the atmosphere was more than 300 g / cm 3 and that the age of this body (time of independent existence from the moment of fragmentation is more a large asteroid before falling to Earth) is 1.5-2.0 million years.
