Peter Nechas ( czech. Petr Nečas [ˈpɛtr̩ ˈnɛtʃas] ; born November 19, 1964 , Uherske Hradiste , South Moravian Region , Czechoslovakia ) - Czech politician, chairman of the Civic Democratic Party since June 2010 , after parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic on May 28-29, 2010, he was appointed the 9th Prime Minister of the Czech Republic [1] .

He graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences Masarykova University in Brno and graduate school with him, received the degree of Doctor of Science; specialist in plasma physics . In 1988 - 89 served in the helicopter regiment, after serving in the army for some time worked as a technologist.

In 1991 - 92 served as head of the DDP in Vsetin . In 1996 he was elected to the parliament of the Czech Republic . In 2006 - 09 he served as Minister of Labor and Social Protection in the government of Mirek Topolanek , and also served as Deputy Prime Minister. Resigned along with Mirek Topolanek from the post of Prime Minister on May 8, 2009 . After Mirek Topolanek resigned as chairman of the GDP in April 2010, he became the acting leader of the party, as well as the party’s candidate for the post of prime minister in the May parliamentary elections .

On June 4, 2010, President Vaclav Klaus entrusted Peter Necas to form a government with the participation of three parties - the DDP , TOP 09 and Public Affairs [2] . On June 27, Vaclav Klaus announced that he would appoint Nechas Prime Minister [1] , and on June 28 Necas was officially appointed [3] . In the coalition government, which assumed office on July 13, 2010, the Civil Democratic Party received 5 ministerial portfolios (as Minister of Defense, Environment, Industry and Commerce, Justice and Agriculture), 5 - TOP 09 (Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Labor and Social Protection, Health , finance and culture), 4 - Public affairs (ministers of internal affairs, regional development, transport, education, youth and sports).

He repeatedly condemned the Russian group Pussy Riot , thereby provoking criticism from prominent Czech politicians, public figures and journalists [4] [5] . After the scandal associated with the accusations of some members of the government of corruption, as well as the scandal associated with the chief of staff of Prime Minister , Necas resigned as prime minister on June 17, 2013 [6] .

The police conducted searches in the offices of the Prime Minister, his supporters, as well as in the offices of lobbying groups. During the raid, about five million euros in cash and a few kilograms of gold were found [7] .

He is married and has four children.
