Nape piercing

Occipital piercing is a variant of piercing in which punctures are made in the occipital part of the neck. It is a type of flat piercing. In cases where the place for a planar puncture is not chosen correctly, or it is not installed correctly, there is a possibility of piercing rejection. For example, a piercing can be torn off if a puncture is made in the too movable part of the neck and the jewelry touches clothing or other objects, thereby causing irritation.

To reduce the risk of rejection and migration, which are so susceptible to planar types of piercing, it is necessary to select a special jewelry for occipital piercing. As a primary decoration for this type of puncture, curved rods or rods made of flexible materials such as Teflon are usually used. A more suitable solution may be Titanium, which, due to its low nickel content, is less likely to cause skin irritation in the puncture area. Two jewelery are needed to create a quality occipital piercing. The first is a bar with long curved sides (inserted into the puncture during piercing), which is designed for swelling of the skin. The second is a rod (with shorter bends, such that the balls are located a few mm from the skin), which should be inserted after the healing of the puncture is complete. There are also similar options for curved jewelry, which, as a rule, can be found on order from masters or suppliers.
