Irishtown was outside the city walls of medieval Dublin. When Dublin became the English center after the Anglo-Norman conquest, the Irish were considered enemies by it, which was aggravated by the invasion of the O'Byrne and O'Toole clans from the Wicklow Mountains . In the 15th century, the Irish were evicted abroad, although they were allowed to trade inside the city walls [2] .

Later, Irishtown was part of Pembroke . In the 18th century, near the Irishtown, there were the ruins of a castle, which became a haven for robbers. The area was called Beggars' Bush and was practically not protected by law. Residents of Ringsend, Irishtown, Ballbridge, and Donnibrook were forced to go out into the streets armed and defend themselves on their own [3] . In the XIX century, in the urban area there was a woolen factory of Joseph Beale ( eng. Joseph Beale ), which employed 2,000 people [4] .

In the urban area are the Irishtown Natural Park, which offers walking routes along the Pulbeg Peninsula, and the park named after Shona Moore.
