History
For the first time the title “Honorary Citizen of Yaroslavl” appeared during the Russian Empire, but in 1917 it was abolished by the decree of the Soviet government.
In the 1970s, the award was resumed.
Description
According to the Decision of the Municipality of the City of Yaroslavl dated May 12, 2005 No. 107 (edited on May 18, 2006) “On the new wording of the provision on symbols and awards of the city of Yaroslavl” the right to apply for the title belongs to the state authorities, city government, labor collectives of organizations, public associations. The title is awarded by decision of the representative body of local self-government to citizens, as a rule, residents of the city of Yaroslavl for outstanding achievements in the economy, science, culture, art, construction, education, education, health, life and rights of citizens, charitable activities and other services to the city and its inhabitants. The persons awarded the title are awarded the City Prize (15,000 rubles as of May 2010), they are awarded a certificate, a certificate, a ribbon and a badge, and social guarantees are also provided. Portraits and biographies of persons awarded the title are entered in the book "Honorary Citizens of the City of Yaroslavl", stored in the premises of the local government .

- Gagin, Ivan Alekseevich (pseudonym Meer ; real name and patronymic Alexander Tikhonovich ; 1897–1985) - colonel, participant of the Civil War in Russia (was a prisoner of a floating prison during the Yaroslavl uprising ), head of a special department of the 18th Yaroslavl rifle division (1923— 1925), deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Uzbek SSR .
