History
G.P. Galagan donated 13 thousand acres of land to the collegium in the Poltava and Chernihiv provinces, the total value of which at that time was a significant amount of 275 thousand rubles. He also presented the college with a library [2] .
The educational institution was located in 5 buildings on Fundukleevskaya Street (now Bogdan Khmelnitsky ), reconstructed in 1870 by the architect A. Ya. Schiele . After the 1917 revolution, the Bolsheviks liquidated the College, turning it into a "labor school". The main building (now house No. 11) was transferred to the V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine ; Now in this building is the Museum of Literature of Ukraine . The building where the Galaganov family lived, and then the director of the College, was demolished during the construction of the metro station. Between them, another Collegium building (No. 9) has been preserved, which now houses a cosmetology clinic.
The educational institution was designed to study and live in a boarding school for 70 pupils: 30 scholars of G. Galagan and 40 self-employed. The first set consisted of 18 students.
The college curriculum corresponded to the 4th high classes of the classical gymnasium with some differences: Greek is optional; new languages, drawing and choral singing are required; in mathematics and the Russian language - wider programs.
