Biography

She graduated from the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the University of Tartu in 1972 . A student of Professor Yu. M. Lotman , under whose guidance the diploma work “The Image of M. M. Speransky in Russian Literature and Journalism of the First Half of the 19th Century” was completed.

She started working at the department of Russian literature while still studying as a laboratory assistant ( 1970 - 1974 ; for this she switched to distance learning [2] ). In 1974 - 1987, a senior lecturer. In 1982, at the University of Tartu, she defended her thesis for the degree of candidate of philological sciences “The Idea of ​​National Identity in Russian Literature between Tilsit and the Patriotic War (1807-1812)” (supervisor Yu. M. Lotman). In 1987-1992 he was an assistant professor, since 1992 - an ordinary professor.

In the early 1990s, she headed the department of Russian literature. In 1993 - 1997 , 2000 - 2003, and since 2006, head of the department of Russian and Slavic philology.

Scientific activity

His research interests cover the history and semiotics of Russian literature and culture of the 18th - first half of the 19th centuries, Russian literature in a foreign cultural context, the history of the University of Tartu, the heritage of Yu. M. Lotman, and the work of V. A. Zhukovsky . Scientific interests are also associated with the reflection of official ideology in Russian literature and culture of the 18th-19th centuries, the formation of the Russian national idea, and Russian “archaism”.

She gave lecture courses and lectures in many European cities ( Bergamo , Kiel , Copenhagen , Milan , Moscow , Riga , Stockholm , Turin , Uppsala , Siauliai , Edinburgh ).

The author of about 200 publications in Russian, English, Estonian. Scientific works were published in the publications of the University of Tartu, as well as in various collections of scientific works published in Russia , Finland , Italy , England and other European countries.

L. N. Kiseleva - scientific editor and author of an afterword, one of the compilers of a collection of journalistic speeches, autobiographical texts, television lectures by Yu. M. Lotman “Education of the Soul” (St. Petersburg, 2003 ), as well as an editor-in-chief, compiler, member of editorial boards internationally recognized editions of the Department of Russian Literature of the University of Tartu, “Transactions in Russian and Slavic Philology.
