Osterman ( German: Osterman, Ostermann ) is a countish clan originating from the county of Marksky in Westphalia.

The offspring of the mayor of Bokum (Westphalia) Matthias Osterman , who lived at the turn of the XVI and XVII century. In 1796, the surname and title of Count Osterman passed to Alexander Ivanovich Tolstoy, and in 1863 to Prince Mstislav Valerianovich Golitsyn.
Genus of Counts Osterman and Prince Golitsyna Count Osterman was included in the fifth part of the genealogy books of the Ryazan and St. Petersburg lips.

Emblem Description
The shield is divided horizontally into two parts of azure color by a strip on which three golden hexagonal stars are depicted. In the upper part, in a silver field, there is half-crowned double-headed black eagle emerging with outstretched wings. In the lower part in a golden field, a palm tree is a coat of arms known from antiquity, used by the name of Ostermanov.
The count's crown is imposed on the shield, with three tournament helmets, of which the middle silver is crowned with dignity and holds a black eagle with gold crowns on two heads; the second helmet on the right side is decorated with a palm tree, and the third on the left side is a noble boletus with ostrich feathers. Under the shield, the motto of the coat of arms is inscribed: NEC SOL NEC FRIGORA MUTANT (neither heat nor cool changes). The bastard on the shield is blue, silver lined. The shield is held by two ostriches.
