Biography
Born in the village of Orlovo (now - the Kirovograd region of Ukraine ). By nationality - Ukrainian . He graduated from nine classes of the school, after which he worked as a miller .
In service in the Red Army since March 1944. At first he was a gunner, later commander of the mortar calculation in the 73rd Guards Rifle Regiment of the 25th Guards Rifle Division .
On August 29, 1944, during the liquidation of the encircled enemy group near the settlement of Costesti ( Romania ) of the guard, Junior Sergeant Kirilenko destroyed about fifty enemy soldiers and enemy officers from the mortar.
By order of September 10, 1944, the guard sergeant Kirilenko Vasily Filippovich was awarded the Order of Glory 3rd degree (No. 141227).
On December 15, 1944, in battles on the outskirts of the city of Budapest ( Hungary ), mortar crews under the command of Kirilenko crushed two enemy firing points. In the area of settlements Alag and Ilka (north of the city of Budapest), he destroyed more than ten enemy soldiers.
By order of the Guard of February 13, 1945, Junior Sergeant Kirilenko Vasily Filippovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree (No. 8916).
On May 7, 1945, at the village of Kolenfurt ( Czechoslovakia ), with an enemy counterattack, the guard sergeant Kirilenko, quickly assessing the situation, made his way to the positions of the enemy machine guns, destroyed their calculations, opened fire first from one, then from another machine gun on the backs of the advancing and destroyed more than fifty enemies.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946, for sergeant, courage and fearlessness shown in battles with the German invaders, senior sergeant Kirilenko Vasily Filippovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree (No. 426).
After the war he continued to serve in the army. Member of the CPSU (b), then the CPSU since 1945. He graduated from the Lviv Military-Political School . In April 1976, Colonel Kirilenko was sacked. He lived in Odessa , worked as the chairman of the trade union committee.
He died on October 8, 1990.
