Suspension (from lat. Suspensio, suspension) is a suspension in which a solid substance is evenly distributed as tiny particles in a liquid substance in a suspended (not settled) state [1] [2] .
A suspension is a coarse dispersed system with a solid dispersed phase and a liquid dispersion medium . Typically, the particles of the dispersed phase are so large (more than 10 microns ) that they settle under the action of gravity ( sediment ). Suspensions in which sedimentation is very slow due to the small difference in the density of the dispersed phase and the dispersion medium are sometimes called suspensions. Dispersed structures easily arise in concentrated suspensions. Typical suspensions are pulps, drilling fluids, cement slurries, enamel paints . Widely used in the manufacture of ceramics , plastics, varnishes and paints, paper.
