Creation History
The book is a collection of articles by Bushnell that she began writing in 1994 for The New York Observer : the editor-in-chief offered her her own column, saying that Bushnell could write whatever she wanted.
Screen version
Soon, based on the book, the famous HBO series “ Sex and the City ” was shot, filmed from 1998 to 2004. In 2008, the continuation film was released on large screens, and two years later - in the summer of 2010 - the second part .
Differences
Although the book, like the series, mostly tells about the adventures of the journalist Carrie Bradshaw, a much larger number of characters appear in the book - most of their stories in the series happen to Carrie's best friends - Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte. In the book they are secondary characters and, to a large extent, differ in their types from those presented in the series.
In the book, Charlotte is an obsessed Englishwoman. Miranda works as an executive producer on cable television. And Samantha is a movie producer.
Used stories
The authors of the script came up with many stories for their characters, but several ideas for discussion were still taken from the book:
- Model fans
- Crazy Moms
- Monogamy: for or against
These themes became central to the episodes of the first season .
Issue in Russia
The book has been published several times in Russia. The first edition was published in 2003 from the publishers Geleos and Thornton and Sagden, translated by Natalia Banke [2] .
The novel was also translated by O. Myshakova from the publishing houses AST, AST Moscow and Guardian [3] in hard [4] and paperback [5] , as well as in the series “5 Stars” [6] .
