Biography

Aron Iosifovich Rzheznikov was born in 1899 in the city of Chernigov in the family of a shoemaker.

In 1917 he entered to study at the School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Moscow. Soon his father died, and he was forced to return home.

Since 1910, Aron studied at a real school (Chernihiv). In Chernigov he participated in exhibitions, led the studio and the poster workshop; painted scenery for the theater.

Since 1922 - in Moscow. He studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture , in 1927 he graduated from VKhUTEMAS , where his teachers were R. Falk, then D. Shterenberg.

In the late 1930s. Aron Rzheznikov was a member of the Group of Five art association, together with artists Lev Zevin , Lev Aronov, Mikhail Dobroserdov and Abram Peysakhovich.

He painted portraits , landscapes , industrial landscapes, genre compositions. In 1939, at the 1st youth exhibition he exhibited the painting Karl Marx at the Hague Congress, the only work in Soviet painting dedicated to the First International .

Author of theoretical articles about impressionism .

1939–1940 - author of research articles on impressionism, Cezanne and old masters, in which he sought to prove the need for a synthesis of impressionistic immediacy of nature perception, Cezanne compositional constructivity and tonal-light generalization and objectivity of old masters.

In the fall of 1940, the Group of Five exhibition was held in Moscow.

1943 - Aron Rzheznikov died at the front .
