Simon Georg von Sina (German: Simon Georg Freiherr von Sina , born October 15, 1810 Vienna - d. April 15, 1876 Vienna) is an Austrian entrepreneur and philanthropist, baron. Son of George Simon von Sin .
S. G. background Sina studied philosophy and astronomy. He spent a significant part of his fortune on the creation of educational institutions, such as the new building of the University of Vienna and the Budapest Academy of Arts . Sina was also the founder of the Athens Academy and Athens Observatory . He financed the construction of the Cathedral in Athens and the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Vienna .
The cost of Sina's charity was so great that his four daughters after the death of his father were forced to sell the magnificent Viennese palace of the von Sina family.
In honor of S. G. phon Sina, the Sinas Crater is named on the Moon .
