History
The modern square includes the territory of the former Rogozhskaya Sennaya (Sennaya) Square and the square of the Rogozhskaya Zastava, named after the Rogozhskaya outpost of the Kamer-Kollezhsky shaft that existed here in the 18th century . The outpost was named after the Rogozhskaya Yamskaya settlement located here in the 16th century , whose population served transportation along the road leading to the village of Rogozh (later the city of Bogorodsk, now Noginsk ). Haymarket was called due to the fact that hay was traded on it. Rogozhskaya Sennaya Square in 1919 was renamed to Ilyich Square (after Patronymic of Lenin V.I. ). The Rogozhskaya Zastava Square in 1923 was renamed the Zastava Ilyich Square, and in 1955 it was included in the Ilyich Square. In 1994, the square returned its historical name - Rogozhskaya Zastava Square [1] .
