Early life and education
Comes from the New York family of Vanderbilt , son of Alison Campbell (nee Platen) and Alfred Gwynn Vanderbilt III [3] . His paternal grandfather Alfred Gwynn Vanderbilt II was chairman of the New York Horse Racing Association, maternal grandfather Donald Campbell Platen was executive director and chairman of Chemical Bank [4] [5] .
Vanderbilt grew up in Norwalk , Connecticut , and attended school in New Canaan, Connecticut. [6] He graduated from St. Paul's School and the University of Southern California [4] .
