Sir Christopher Andrew "Chris" Hoy ( born Sir Christopher Andrew "Chris" Hoy , born March 23, 1976 in Edinburgh , Scotland ) is a Scottish professional track cyclist , six-time Olympic champion, 11-time world champion, two-time champion of the Commonwealth Games and race car driver, winner of the European Le Mans Series in the LMP3 class (2015). Member of the Order of the British Empire (2005), Knight-Bachelor (2009). The holder of the largest number of Olympic gold awards (along with Jason Kenny , each with six highest medals) in the history of cycling and in the history of Great Britain .

In 2008, at the Beijing Olympics, he became the second-ever British athlete after swimmer Henry Taylor to win three gold medals at the Olympics alone.
At the Olympics and World Championships alone, Khoy won 31 awards, 17 of which were gold.
In 2003 and 2008 he was recognized by the BBC as the best athlete in Scotland, and in 2008 also as the best athlete in the UK (Hoi was just the second-ever cyclist to receive this award after Tom Simpson in 1965).
He is an Honorary Doctor of the University of Edinburgh (2005) and the University of St. Andrews (2009).
