Geography

It is located on the right bank of the Tom channel, opposite Kizhirovsky Island , 21 kilometers north of Tomsk .

In the southern vicinity of the village is the mouth of the Samuska River. In the vicinity of the village there are several lakes that served as a popular summer vacation spot for residents of Tomsk and Seversk. Lake Krugloye on the western shore is adjacent to the village of Samus. The lake, together with the lakes Mitrevo , Maltsevo , Yakovo , located west of the lake, an unnamed artificial lake to the west of Maltsevo lake and an unnamed lake in the vicinity of Lake Yakovo, is part of the Specially Protected Natural Territory of local significance "Lake Complex of Samus." The lakes are confined to the surface of the second floodplain terrace of the Tom River. Lakes represent a single hydrological system connected by a natural surface runoff in the direction of gravitational transport. In the relief they are arranged in tiers [2] [3] .

History

In November 1879, the merchant ship “Gagara” with cargo found salvation from the impending freezing at the mouth of the Samuski River [4] . From this time, it is customary to count the beginning of the history of the village of Samus and the Samus shipbuilding and ship repair plant.

The steamer team dug two dugouts - for housing and a workshop. During the winter, the ship was repaired. Having spent the winter safely, and having waited for the spring ice drift , the ship continued its further journey past Tomsk to Biysk . The news of a convenient place for wintering quickly spread among shipowners [4] .

In the autumn of the following 1880, fleeing the opportunity to be jammed with ice, the Arseny steamboat stopped for wintering at the mouth of the same river. Using a primitive base, the crew repaired the ship and safely started a new navigation.

In 1881, the Tomsk merchant I. Nekrasov already specially has the Blagoslavny steamer here for winter parking and repair.

In 1890, by order of the Ministry of Railways, engineer, state adviser, Baron Aminov Bjork Aleksandrovich was sent to Tomsk. His main concern was the completion of the Ob-Yenisei Canal , which began back in 1883. In the state of the Tomsk region of waterways, engineers and technicians with excellent metropolitan education served. They became interested in the Samus sucks point. Baron Aminov visited Samuski. Having examined the place of wintering of ships, he submitted to the government a proposal on the advisability of creating a large backwater for sludge and ship repair. The archival documents say “for the wintering of government vessels and shells of the Tomsk water district on the Tom River near the city of Tomsk, the Kizhirovsky Channel, the right sleeve of the Tom river at the mouth of the Samus River, serves. This place is located 35 miles from the city of Tomsk and is the only convenient place for wintering vessels. ”

In the spring of 1891, a team of specially sent workers arrived at this place, who built several residential and industrial premises. From the Ob-Yenisei Canal, state-owned residential buildings and equipment of the blacksmith, mechanical and carpentry shops were brought. A machine-building was formed, that is, a “device for dressing something." This is how the dictionaries of the time were defined. The newly formed plant began to be used to repair river vessels.

In 1895, the village was named Zaton [5] [4] .

Since 1897, the settlement has been settled by permanent residents. The first to remain permanently was Ivan Stepanovich Popov, a carpenter of the steamboat “Blessed”, born in 1855 and his wife, Anna Andreevna, born in 1861. During their life together, 22 children were born. Ivan Stepanovich worked all his life at the nascent ship repair enterprise.

The former accidental hibernation of ships in distress began to grow at the expense of newly arrived regular workers.

In 1907, the plant received the official status of “Samus ship repair yard”. This enterprise has long been the only and most significant for the entire Tomsk District waterways. In Samusky Zaton there were: a mechanical workshop with a forge, a carpentry workshop, warehouses of property and materials, 13 residential buildings, barracks for workers, a bathhouse, a hospital. Workers were trained in a complex matter - the repair of river vessels. Having mastered the technology of ship repair, the Samusky Ship Repair Zat enterprise started a new business for itself - shipbuilding.

In 1912, two ships were disassembled from England: the Tura and the Konda with a capacity of 100 horsepower. During the year, these two vessels were assembled, tested and set sail on the Tom and Ob rivers. This was the beginning of shipbuilding in the Samus ship repair yard. Over the next 100 years, more than three hundred ships were built there [6] [7] .

Kuzovlevsky tract - the beginning of the road from Tomsk to Samus.

By the decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of May 15, 1934, the village of Zaton-Samusky was categorized as a working settlement, with the name Samus [8] .

In 1997, transferred from the Tomsk region to the ZATO Seversk [4] .
