Artsakh Democratic Party ( armenian "Արցախի ժողովրդավարական կուսակցություն" ) is a political party in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic . It was founded on January 30, 2005. Prior to that, in 2000-2005. acted as a socio-political organization Union "Democratic Artsakh" . The chairman of the party is Ashot Gulyan ( Gulyan Ashot Vladimirovich ), who is also the chairman of the NKR National Assembly. Following the results of the parliamentary elections held on June 19, 2005, the DPA received the majority of the votes and formed the “Democracy” fraction in the National Assembly. As a result of the elections to the NKR National Assembly of the 5th convocation, the fraction was reorganized, and it consisted of 10 deputies. Following the results of the May 3, 2015 elections to the National Assembly, the faction included 6 members (4 deputies - according to the proportional system and 2 - according to the majority system).
The Artsakh Democratic Party (DPA) is a voluntary association of NKR citizens, which is designed to represent the interests of wide sections of society in the socio-political life of the NKR.

Ideology
DPA is a supporter of stability and natural development of events. The party’s values include a strong state, democracy, civil society, a person, his personal freedom and security, family, work, social justice.
The DPA ideology is political pragmatism.
Program
The main goals of the DPA are the creation of a rule of law state that guarantees the realization of the human rights to a free, safe, dignified and comfortable life, the strengthening of independent statehood, the creation of an economically strong, civilized state, the preservation and enrichment of the national image; creation of civil society based on social solidarity, justice, tolerance and partnership, taking into account national values.
In the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, the party is a supporter of securing the right of the NKR people to self-determination through peaceful negotiations, with state borders acceptable to the people and a security system. The party’s program objectives include ensuring free competition in the political arena, subject to respect for pluralism, strengthening the fundamental human rights and freedoms in the NKR, as a precondition for building a civil society.
International Relations
On April 17, 2015, the Artsakh Democratic Party was elected an associate member of the European Free Alliance. On September 2, 2015, in Stepanakert, the DPA chairman Ashot Gulyan and the head of the European Free Alliance Francois Alfonsi signed the Declaration on Cooperation.
